The winter thing just isn't agreeing with me, or maybe it's just the winter blues setting in early. Who knows. I've been missing riding quite a bit lately. Reading the Ride Reports forum on ADV has me wanting to ride like no body's business. Not just any ride, mind you, but the Alaska trip I have planned for '11 (planned for 2012 now). This trip has consumed my imagination, my every thought.
I did a quick calculation recently to see what it would take to keep me afloat for 3 months while on the road. it seems with just the basics like cell phone, insurance, etc, it wold take about 1K to keep the bills paid. That of course wouldn't include rent, food, or any of the other things required to maintain a house hold. Yes, during this trip I would be essentially homeless and jobless. Free as a bird, as I see it, at least for a little while. That's a choice I'm willing to make. At this point in one's life, most are planning for buying homes, saving for the kid's education, and retirement. I'm planning to live life to the fullest. To me, those things aren't living life. Living life, to me, is accepting every "adventure" with open arms, and making a few of my own along the way.
