  • Need two wheels!!!

I definitely could use some two wheeled therapy right now. Life has thrown a slight curve ball, and a nice bike ride is in order.

  • Officially the end to the season…

I’ve officially ended my riding season. The bikes are now stored in my shed, fuel stabilizer added, and with batteries removed. I took one last ride on both the 550 and DR, totalling about 50 miles, or about 25 miles each, before I parked them. Both will be missed during the cold, dark winter months.…

  • Dropped DR

I dropped the DR yesterday, twice in a row, while on a very challenging, very rocky road I knew I shouldn’t have been on.The drops happened while I was trying to turn around on the narrow, rocky, downward sloping surface that is the road. It was a simple case of the bike being a bit…

  • Gettin’ it done!

I got some much need things done to the bikes in the last couple of weeks. Both the 550 and DR650 got oil changes, I put different shocks on the 550 even though they are too long and too stiff, and new tires on the DR. While dong the shocks I noticed the right rear…

  • New tires on the way, new farkle

I just got done ordering new tires (& tubes) for the DR650. I chose Shinko 705’s. I look forward to installing them and giving them a workout on pavement as well as dirt. I also installed my first DR farkle this weekend. It’s a 12 socket for powering my GPS and whatever else. Yes, it’s…

  • I’m lovin’ my new bike!

August 7th I picked up a very clean 1997 Suzuki DR 650. So far I’m enjoying every ride. The are a few changes I’m going to be making to it, but overall it’s exactly the bike I was looking for. I can’t wait to start farkling it.

  • Back from a nice misty evening ride

I just got back from a nice, if not slightly rainy and misty, late evening ride. I left from the house knowing that I would likely be riding into some showers along the way. I’m glad I took the ride. It amazes me how a change of time and/or weather during a familiar ride can…

  • It’s been a while…again

It’s been a while since I updated my blog, so here is an update. That oil cooler project for the 550 ended up being wasted effort. As it turns out, the slightly restricted oil flow caused by my skillfully bent oil lines caused the oil light to come on at idle when the engine was…

  • Ready for the road!!!

I finally finished some of the mods I had been working on on the 550. Most notable is the fuse box and headlight cut relay that kills the headlight during start up. The new setup added 3 fuse slots, upgraded to blade type (ATC/ATO) fuses, and allowed me to properly power my heated grips, and…
